Fish Passage
A multi-stage GIS analysis (Python/ESRI/Oracle) to quantify the magnitude of fish passage issues in British Columbia and identify structures for remediation.
Steps included:
- model fish habitat on BC streams
- define potential culvert locations (linear referencing on Freshwater Atlas streams)
- prioritize culvert locations for fish passage assessment based on habitat and number of culverts upstream and downstream

Coastal Resource Information System
Production of a web
mapping site using ESRI's ArcIMS and BC's IMF to display coast and ocean
resource information, including shoreline video.

British Columbia Assessment Watersheds
Development of an application (Python/Oracle) to generate a
set of hierarchically coded provincial
mesoscale watersheds (based on
1:20 000 data) specifically designed
to address the needs of managing
land use for aquatic values.

Land Use Analysis For Benthic Invertebrate Bioassessment
Land use analysis and reporting for bioassessment projects, including:
- automated watershed definition upstream of sampling sites (ArcGIS)
- land use analysis and reporting for defined watersheds (Oracle/ ArcGIS)
- for each cutblock within defined watersheds, calculation of distance to stream and distance in stream to sampling site (PostGIS)
Site C Socio-Economic Reporting
For BC Hydro's proposed Site C project, reporting on a set of spatial indicators extracted from available land and resource databases.
Indicators such as zoning, resource extraction (forestry, mining, etc), tourism use, agriculture, and basic infrastructure were included.
